Condenser Microphones

Ideal for high quality sound recordings

As the name might suggest, condenser microphones use the technology of a condenser in order to convert sound waves into electronic signals. A flexible diaphragm and return electrode are housed inside the microphone. When sound waves hit the diaphragm, the distance between the electrodes changes due to the vibration and with it the capacity of the condenser. An electrical signal is generated from this change in capacity.

Condenser microphones are characterised by very good impulse behaviour and a wide frequency spectrum with clear high frequencies. While so-called dynamic microphones are readily used on stage due to their sturdiness, condenser microphones are the ideal solution for the studio and professional recording situations. Condenser microphones require an external power supply and can be run either on batteries or through phantom power.

In terms of sound quality, condenser microphones are far superior to dynamic microphones. They offer a wide frequency spectrum, have high impulse fidelity and sensitivity, and boast low noise. You will find a vast selection of high quality condenser microphones from renowned manufacturers such as bayerdynamic, M-G, Neumann, Panasonic, Rode, Schoeps, Sennheiser and Sony in our shop. They are ideally suited to professional use and can be used as studio microphones or as external microphones on cameras and boom poles.

Condenser microphones with different pickup patterns and mounting options

Condenser microphones have a specific pickup pattern depending on their type and use. The microphones can focus on a small recording area or cover a wide area. Our shop stocks condenser microphones with cardioid, supercardioid, wide cardioid, directional and figure-8 pickup patterns. A further advantage of condenser microphones is their light and compact design. Through this the microphones can be used as handheld microphones and mounted on different equipment. Depending on the type of microphone, it can be fitted with a mount directly onto a camera or boom pole.

High quality studio microphones from M-G

Microphones such as the M930, M940 and M950 from M-G are ideally suited for use as studio microphones. They are fitted with modern large diaphragm capsule technology and with the newest semiconductor circuit technology and are readily used by both semi-professionals as well as professional cameramen. They meet the highest demands and have universal applications. You can fit a speaker’s lectern with these microphones or record different musical instruments such as guitars, brass or string instruments.

You can have a cardioid, supercardioid or wide cardioid pickup pattern depending on the type of microphone you have. Due to the particular circuit design of the impedance converter and the extended dynamic range, the faithful recording of low sound levels is just as possible as the distortion-free recording of very high audio pressure. These M-G condenser microphones have very high EMC resistance so that electromagnetic interferences do not adversely affect the recordings. The microphone cable connection is a 3-pin XLR connector.

Should you have questions regarding the different microphones available in the shop, you are welcome to contact us at any time. We are ready to assist and guide you in choosing a suitable microphone for you.
