The Lynx yellobrik ODT 1540 is a multifunctional CWDM-compatible module designed to extend serial connections (RS232, RS422, or RS485) and two GPI interfaces (General Purpose I/O) over fiber optic links with a range of up to 40 km. The system operates in pairs with a second ODT 1540 at a remote location and provides 18 wavelength options for CWDM applications. One RJ45 interface can be configured for RS232, RS422, or RS485 standards, while a separate RJ45 connector provides two electrical GPI inputs and outputs. Serial communication and GPI signals are transmitted together over the same fiber link. The device is protocol-agnostic and supports all standard and proprietary protocols with data rates from 300 to 460K baud, which are automatically detected and adjusted. A DIP switch allows precise control of the operating mode, including serial standards, RX/TX crossover functionality, termination, and data direction control (automatic or manual) for RS422/485. LEDs indicate the activity of the serial and GPI ports. The ODT 1540 also allows mixing and matching of serial standards, such as an RS232 input at the transmitting module and an RS422 output at the receiving module. Thanks to “Plug-and-Play,” the system is easy to install, hot-pluggable, and requires no special drivers. LC/PC duplex fiber optic connections ensure reliable communication over long distances.
