ERECA: Fiber-based signal transport for complex media networks
Since 2017 BPM is the exclusive distributor for ERECA in Germany and Austria. The manufacturer of camera fibre optic systems, based in Saint Gratien, has long been one of the renowned suppliers in this product segment in France. Since 1989 ERECA develops products and solutions based on the digital transmission of video, audio and data for CCTV and CATV.
The CAM Racer
At the Hamburg Open 2017 BPM presented the CAM Racer of the ERECA portfolio for the first time. The CAM Racer is a complete fiber optic transmission solution for integrating different camera models into live production and for integration into OB vans, studio and cinema applications. The system consists of a dockable transceiver for the camera and a 1U base station for installation in the studio or in the OB van. The CAM Racer transmits all required signals including video up to 4K/8K, audio, ethernet, return video, intercom and tally etc. via a standard SMPTE311 cable. The system has an integrated power supply for the camera and an integrated mixer for intercom and audio.
The Stage Racer
ERECA's portfolio also includes the digital stageboxes Stage Racer and Stage Racer 2 as well as the "handheld" fiber optic transmission units of the X-Racer series. The Stage Racer transmits incoming signals between two 19"-1U base units and also via a standard SMPTE311 fiber optic cable. The capacity of the system includes up to 12 video signals (up to 3G-SDI) as well as 16 bidirectional analog audio channels each, GBit Ethernet, AES3, Madi, GPI, Genlock, and much more. In addition to point-to-point connection between 2 stageboxes, the extended Stage Racer 2 variant now also allows star and ring-shaped cascading, so that a base unit can control several remote stage boxes in an OB van, for example.
The products of ERECA and also the Stage Racer 2 are used in many large-scale sports and film productions, such as the 24 hours race of Le Mans or the Tour de France. The CAM Racer is also used at various medical congresses to broadcast several operations live and in parallel.
